Tate Movie Project
Tate Movie Project is an ambitious initiative by Aardman, Tate and the BBC to involve children all over the UK in the production of an animated film. I was part of the (huge!) team that developed the website, via which kids can contribute ideas, designs, sound effects and animations.
The site centres around a virtual film studio, from which the bumbling director Ronnie Suitcase and his crew issue requests to the participants and give updates on the film’s progress. I designed these backgrounds, each one loaded with discoverable interactive elements, for Felix Massie’s brilliant character animations.
Here’s a little process video for anyone interested in how I put these together:
The film is now finished but the site, which picked up several awards, continues to thrive. As I say there were a lot of people involved in this one but special mention should be given to Flash developer Tom Milner for pulling it all together. Well done that man.
