Home Sheep Home
I was tasked by Aardman with providing graphics and animation for this fun little physics puzzle game, in which you must return the three titular sheep to the safety of their barn, using the unique abilities of each to overcome a variety of obstacles.
Unusually, the game had been built in it’s entirety by the brilliant Chris Underwood before I was even involved. I based the hand-drawn look of the game on sketches by Shaun the Sheep creator Richard Goleszowski, and brought it to life with subtle texture, translucent colour and gently boiling lines.
The game has been something of a hit, chalking up a frankly staggering 100 million plays in a little over 18 months online. It’s received glowing reviews, won awards, been a top 10 iphone app, and inspired crazy speed runs, as well as a whole sub-genre of copyists.
Play the original here. And who knows, maybe we’ll get to do a sequel?
